Thanks to the assistance of Sade Herbert, Director of Volunteer Services at the Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, members of the St. Mary's County Camera Club (SMCCC) as well as members of Bowie-Crofton Camera Club (B-CCC) have an exhibit of photographs for sale in Bldg 2 in the Assisted Living Cafeteria hallway.
SMCCC was established in 1998 and B-CCC began in 1965 in order to promote photography as a hobby, and to provide a way to exchange knowledge of the subject while providing inspiration to amateur photographers. See www.smccc.org and www.b-ccc.org for more information as to all that these clubs have to offer.
These are the same clubs whose members displayed military-themed photographs at the Veterans Home during the months of November and December, 2024. That was a travelling exhibit that went from the PAX River Naval Air Museum (August and September) to the Lexington Park Library which lies just outside of the Naval Air Station-PAX River (October) before lining the hallways at the Veterans Home the last two months of 2024.
This second exhibit at the Veterans Home will run for the months of January and February, 2025.
There is no theme to the present exhibit, so photos offer a wide variety of subject matter: scenes from St. Mary's County, from overseas, out West, rural areas, seaside, as well as photos of flowers, butterflies, birds, wildlife, bridges, seashells, sunsets, the stages of an eclipse, artistic abstracts and composites, painterly photos and even a triptych of the American flag fluttering in the wind--something for everyone!
Please take a moment out of your busy schedule to come and see the display in Building 2 in the Assisted Living Cafeteria hallway, and share it with others.
We found it to be a good conversation stimulant with the Vets and one that all will enjoy! |
