Maryland Department of Veterans & Military Families
The Maryland Department of Veterans & Military Families Service and Benefits Program provides assistance in obtaining benefits for veterans and their eligible dependents. Here at Charlotte Hall Veterans Home, we are fortunate to have an Accredited Veterans Service Officer located within our facility.
U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs data shows that veterans represented by accredited organizations receive significantly greater disability benefits than their non-represented counterparts.
As part of our admissions process, our Veterans Service Officer will review military discharge documents, DD214's, and individual circumstances of service to provide the best possible assistance and benefits they may qualify for. We will review eligibility through the Veterans Health Administration, the Veterans Benefits Administration, the National Cemeteries Administration, and other Maryland programs designed to assist veterans.
As a service to our residents, our Service Officer will also assist with developing, preparing, submitting, and tracking disability compensation/pension claims to the Veterans Benefits Administration. Benefits that may apply to our residents include:
- Disability Compensation
- Veterans Pension
- Veterans Pension with Aid & Attendance
- Dependency and Indemnity Compensation
- Survivors Pension
- Other benefits include Adapted House grants, Service-Disable Veterans' Insurance, and Veterans' Mortgage Life Insurance
